I have two 4K HDR TV's and one 4K monitor which according to rtings.com have the luminance level I attached in the screenshot.

My question is when I'm playing a game like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and I'm asked whats the hdr max luminance of my display, which one is it?

Is it the Real Scene Highlight value? The Peak 100% Window value? Or the Sustained 100% Window value?

I sort of have the sense that there is some "marketing" involved.

The manufacturer's etc. are likely defining or creating their own terminology....

"Is it the Real Scene Highlight value? The Peak 100% Window value? Or the Sustained 100% Window value?"

Meanings ?

Start with the lower values and gradually work upwards.

Keep notes about what you do or change (e.g. luminance) and where. The "values" available to you that you can actually adjust.

Wait a bit between changes. Determine if the display is both functional and visually acceptable to you.

Does the display get better or not?

If a change does not work then be prepared to reverse the change or otherwise go back a step.

That setting/configuration is likely to be your "working luminance".
