What does it mean and refer to over clock a pc, what is it's purpose? all I now for now is that it's related to GHz

Ocing is related to many components mainly being the cpu for a lot of people... But also ram gpu even some wifi cards. It's intended to speed up what ever part you are ocing. Whether that be your cpu and you calculating and deciphering codes being sent through it faster so each task you run is that much smoother. Or you gpu to rendering your display faster better or your ram doing basically the same as your cpu

In short, OC is setting a component to run at higher speeds than it's normal, factory declared highest frequency shown in standard Hz (Hertz).
