I have a AsRock Z97 Pro 4 motherboard and an intel cpu and the fan modes say silent, standard, and performance. Would I want to put it on performance for lower CPU temps? I currently have it on standard and get 40 celcius idle and around 75 load.
You got it. The performance mode is a more aggressive fan profile (faster but louder).
I changed it to performance and I don't notice a big change in temps while idle. Maybe 1-2 celcius. Would there be any change during gaming do you think?
The fans might only ramp up at a certain temperature threshold determined by the motherboard. You could just run them at full blast if you want to see if it will make a difference.
