Hi guys, i currently have a m5a97 r2.0 motherboard, fx-4170 processor, 8gb of ram @1600mhz, a 600w corsair builder series powersupply and a hd 7850.

Im going to be upgrading my gpu to 2 r9 280x's (the gigabyte edition that comes at 1100mhz with the triforce force cooling design)
and ill be upgrading my powersupply also to something like 850-1000w

The point in this build is for litecoin mining

Im wondering if its safe for me to run both theese cards on my motherboard at 1100mhz or if it will run so hot that it might burn my motherboard or something similar (is that even a thing or am i getting worried over nothing?)

also would it be safe to overclock the cards to 1200mhz/1300mhz ? what voltages should i am for (again would it be safe for the motherboard?) and what temperature is acceptable?

furthermore if i go for the 1000w powersupply (or even more than that) is is ok to put a third r9 280x in my system further down the line

im aware that my motherboard only has 2 pci-e 16x physical slots but by inspection it also has a 1x slot (i think) and ive heard you can use a pci-e riser cable to turn that into a physical 16x slot if you mount the graphics card out the case ( or even build a new case to mount all the gpu's over the top of the system) Im seriously considering doing this so any pro help would be much apreiciated

finally, my motherboard has 2 slots down at the bottom which im not really sure what they are for???
does this mean i could potentially get 5 gpu's in my system? again i know i would need something like 1500w psu or even 2 1000w psu's (probally not nessary but overclocking all 5 cards might call for drastic measures so it is definitely a possibility)

thanks for your time, i know that was a long read but im really looking for someone to help me out that knows what they are talking about; i can always rely on the tom's hardware folks

Maybe this tutorial can help you:
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1919677/radeon-280x-overclocking-guide-beginners-squeeze-extra-fps-bf4.html

you can even out perform a GTX 770 in most of the games:

2 of this cards would be overkill,Only if you are looking at triple monitor gaming, or a 4k monitor, might sli/cf will be needed.
Even that is now changing with triple monitor support on top-end cards and stronger single card solutions.
