What is sideband support good for? Why do I have it? Why do people say, 'Don't enable it, it'll just cause problems'?

The way I understand it is this is a 8 bit wide path to your video card.It is used to carry the memory address. instead of seding the adress with data it is sent on a different bus .This gives you 8 more bits of data space in the memory buss..
