I will build a system in the future.

I will use it for gaming, graphic design, 3D design, rendering, video editing.

Would that speed be good? I read that the lower speed DDR4 is slow compared to some DDR3.

No...but whats the point of getting faster, more expensive memory speeds when you are using intel? You will only notice the benefit from faster ram when using amd. Just get a better DDR3 ram with a Z97 motherboard.

OP is going x99, DDR4 only, and if he is doing 3d, video editing the hexa core will be beneficial to him.
