what is sRGB?

I have a Samsung syncmaster 793df 17" flat CRT monitor.
By accessing side button MENU i found an option sRGB OFF, if i ON it my screen becomes brighter and above it a thermometer looking thing with "K" beside it changes from 9300K to 6500K.
1)What is this option?
2)Should i keep it ON or OFF?
3)What is this 9300 & 6500K?

K means "Kelvin degrees", unit to measure "Color temperature". Wikipedia has a nice article about that.

If you work high-end graphics design, then most probably you should keep it same as your publisher (and you would know it). In your case - it's personal taste, whether you prefer "colder" (bluish) or "warmer" (reddish) colors.

around 6 years back i got my intel motherboard repaired & assembling afterwards monitor's display turned yellow. Then around 3 yrs back it sometimes switched back to its original colours. Then again became yellowish permanently and recently i changed my desktop position and suddenly again original colours came back. now when i start pc it starts voilet or dark reddish and after 5-10 mins it comes back close to original colours.
Any idea what might be the problem?

Looks like a contact problem to me. Tighten video cable at both ends, and rock it gently to see whether you can induce the problem.

no success mate but thnx anyway.
At vga port end i tried but at monitor end its connected directly inside(no ports i mean). I guess i will have to open the monitor case.
I hate samsung products!!!!
