What is the AMD Athlon X4 860K Equal to in Intel CPUs?

Solution
3 of the skylake pentiums launched recently, though I dont recommend them:

It's hard to compare because it is a low end quad core CPU. Most often it's compared to the Intel Pentium G3258. The Pentium is only a dual core CPU but has much stronger single threaded performance. In some cases they each win since some applications will take full use of the 4 cores from the 860k and others will benefit much more from single threaded use of the Pentium. The big reason the Pentium is popular is because it overclocks very easily. It's only draw back being that it has only 2 cores.

Another comparable CPU would be the i3's. They're again dual core CPUs but also have hyperthreading. Therefore they have 2 cores which equates to 4 logical processors. Again this is a dual core CPU and not a true quad core even though it has hyperthreading. The old i3 3220 was Intel's entry level gaming CPU compared to AMD's FX 4300 (it's been about 4 years so I hope I got that right).

I can't say for certain about the newer Pentium G4xxx's as I haven't read into them yet.

Dollar for dollar you will get more single threaded performance from Intel and more cores from AMD. Depending on your needs your choice will differ. Most often Intel has the upper hand.

the equivilant is something a little lower than an i3 4130, any 4th gen i3 will beat this processor by at least 10-20%. This is because while the i3 only has 2 cores and the 860k has 4, intel cores are much more powerful than amd cores, and the i3's have hyperthreading.

you cant really match the 860k with an intel chip maybe an old sandy bridge i3. the g3258 is its main competitor and it beats the 860k in single threaded applications, and the 860k wins in multi-threaded. honestly id say go for the 860k, because it offers a good value for the money (can be paired wit up to an r9 285\gtx 960 with no "bottleneck"). but the real problem with the 860k is the lack of an upgrade path, it is the top FM2+ CPU. which means you'll need to change out the motherboard as well as the CPU if you decide to upgrade in the future.
hope this helped,
V.

The equivalent of the 860K is most definitely the Intel Core i3-6100, if you look at the comparison between each cpu-mark is 5471 (860k) and 5481 (I3). If not the G3258.
