Well..... "best and powerful", especially "best" are subjective.
That said, no matter what you purchase or rent (via Comcast) will be limited to whatever level of service is provided by Comcast/Xfinity.
You can rent their modem(s) and have the advantage that they cannot blame your modem per se when there is a problem.
On the other hand, their modems now very much restrict what you can access and do via the normal browser access using the device IP. They also can set up a hotspot over which you may have no control. There is some very muddy language about what their modems do and do not do....
In order to be helpful we need some insight as to what your specific requirements and expectations are with respect to obtaining a modem.
Thanks. (FYI. I am a Comcast/Xfinity customer with the Arris TM722 modem. I can get to the DOCSIS pages showing upload/downloads, SNR, etc. but cannot make any other changes to the modem.)
