What is the best budget SSD right now?

Hey guys i'm looking for a good SSD. I used to have a Crucial MX100 256GB that served me well. I gave that one to my mother and picked up a Trion 150 480GB. While it works, I have noticed it hiccups once in a while. Something my MX100 never did. Now I picked up the Trion before any credible reviews were published. It was cheap though, real cheap.

So what I am looking for is a new SSD around the 500GB mark. I do have a bootable M.2 slot if you know of a good alternative.

Based on my own research, it appears the Sandisk Extreme Pro 480GB is the top of the budget range right now @ $195 USD on Amazon.

Anybody have an opinion on this? Is the Extreme Pro still top dog in the budget category?

Hmm any reviews of the M.2 MX300 drive around? The SATA version is on par or worse than my Trion 150. The 850 EVO is only about $160 and has much better properties than my Trion and the MX300 SATA.

I trust Crucial's reliability. If you want to pay more for the Samsung's performance, that's fine too.

Is the 850 EVO or Extreme Pro not reliable? I haven't heard of any unusually high failure rates on them other than the thing with the EVO which I assume was corrected with a firmware update.

No I never meant to say that the Samsung's were unreliable. They are.

Ok so I was looking at the Best SSDs article on this site and it claims to have tested every drive that is recommended. However I cannot find the Extreme Pro review anywhere. Am I missing something?

Anybody else have input on the subject? I should have put a price range I guess, but I do want to limit the budget at $200 USD. The Extreme Pro is the best SSD I can find at that price unless there is something I am unaware of?
