What is the best connector?

I am looking to buy a new monitor and there are is an option to buy it full HD or full hd with Display port. I have a gtx 1070 and i am wondering if HDMI is the best route or is display port better? It is 1920x1080 144hz and just need an answer to whether i need to pay more for a DP connector.

displayport , hdmi cannot carry 144hz signal.

Does the monitor have an HDMI 2.0 port? If the answer is yes then it will work.

Monitors with an HDMI 2.0 port connecting to a GPU with a 2.0 port (such as your 1070) can handle 144 hz if the monitor supports it. Not ever monitor does, even if they have HDMI 2.0. Every 144hz monitor I've ever with a DP port supports 144hz over DP.
