what is the best core 2 quad processor for overclock?

hii guys can i know what is the best core 2 quad processor for overclock? i know , these processors are too old now.. jst curious

As far as I know (it's been a while), the best core 2 quad processor is q9650. It should yield the best performance when overclocked.

You can also run LGA 771 Xeons in LGA 775 with a mod ( http://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/ ) They have a whole list of Xeon's that can be used and they overclock better and are cheaper than LGA 775 (IE: Q9650) I would stay away from the Q6600 cause it is 65nm and doesn't overclock as well as 45nm Core 2 cpu's.

The best would be a QX9770 (through its free multipler), short afterwards the Q9650 then Q9550 then Q9450.
They will be able to go beyond 4 GHz relatively easy.

The older Q6600 is capable of good overclocking, too.
But even the Q9550 has around 433 MHz more and its more modern architecture will help getting higher clock spieed ant gives it slightly more performance per clock.

To beat the Performance of the 2.66 GHz Q9450 you will need around 2.8 GHz on the Q6600.
