What is the best CPU cooler out of these two?

I dont want liquid stuff on my i7 4790k. Noctua NH-D15 or Noctua NH-D14 and why.

They're both great. D15 is best but just get the D14 as it's usually cheaper

So now that the answer is clear that the DH15 is better, there is another question. Is the difference so much that it's worth the extra $20 or should I go for the DH14

You may not get any difference in OC between the two coolers, it's likely you will hit other limits with your setup that aren't CPU temperature first.

Even if you did, I don't think the extra ~200mhz would be worth the $20

DH14 is better.

The u14s is lighter though, it would be less of a strain on the motherboard (0.93kg vs 1.2kg)

If you're not going to want to OC the CPU very hard then a Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo is fine. The CPU boosts to 4.4GHz by itself anyway.
