What is the best CPU for socket 754?

I have an amd sempron 3100+ (yes it is bad but i bought an old computer) and I want to know what is the best processor that is compatible. I know that there are desktop and laptop cpus with s754 and I was wondering if you could put a laptop cpu in there. I want to have a dual-core, but if thats not possible then thats ok. Thank you

I believe the Athlon 64 2.4GHz 3700+ is the fastest. Maybe theres a 4000+ too.
