I have a GTX 1050 Ti and an Intel Core i5-2500 CPU. I want to get a newer/better CPU. Which would be the best for this graphics card? Also, would it be compatible with the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F motherboard?

Solution
Best all around cpu for that gpu is the Ryzen 5700x. 65w class cpu that's almost as good as the 105w 5800x, without the power requirements or excessive cooling needs. It's also good enough that any future gpu upgrade in the budget class cards, like a 3060ti will be just fine. The 5600 would also work well and is generally slightly cheaper.

You'll also need 3200/3600 DDR4 ram, 2 sticks kit.

Is it okay if the CPU is bottlenecked by over 50%? Like will it damage any parts or anything? I went on a bottleneck calculating website and it said the Ryzen 7 5700X would bottleneck the 1050 Ti by 50-something percent.

Definition of a bottleneck is something that slows or obstructs the flow.

Seriously, how a cpu can slow down a gpu or vice versa is beyond me. Just because a component isn't fully utilized doesn't mean it runs slower or is obstructed. Might as well say that Ram is constantly bottlenecked, since it's rarely ever fully utilized.

Bottleneck calculators are the worst kind of lame joke. They have only One purpose, and it's not to impart anything to you, it's to sell whatever component is recommended by the sponsors.
