Someone Somewhere raises a VERY good question. Although the processor HighTechObsessed linked is undoubtedly the most powerful, you would get better in game performance with a processor a tenth of its price.

Well, you definitely get a +1 from me. I'd select it as the best answer, but I don't think that would be very helpful

On a different note, I think it's funny that the 12 core CPU has a 5 W higher TDP than the 8 core FX chips. Good ol' Xeon!

Did you mean 9370? It's a nice CPU, but considering a 4670 almost matches it with multithreaded performance and destroys it with singlethreaded performance, I would rather get the Intel chip. Maybe I'm a fanboy, but I like to think I've got good reasoning

I agree with you about the i7s though. If you can afford 'em, they're the best, but they'll cost you a pretty penny.

Sorry for not being clear. You had said that the 9370 was the best budget CPU. I disagreed in favor of a 4670(k) [the intel chip that I referred to]. That's all.

You had it right, the OP was just asking for "the best CPU." You gave a good list, I was just offering a modification about the best budget CPUs.
