Hi, i'm looking for the best possible gaming rig for £600 - £650. This will be my first build so any advice on component compatibility would be great. This would just be the desktop, no OS, keyboard or monitor. I'm hoping to install the SSD and Ram from my laptop to maximize my budget.

Kingston KHX16S9P1K2/16 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 SODIMM HyperX
Kingston Technology 240GB SSD 2.5-inch V300 SATA 3

Not sure if i'll need some sort of adapter for the RAM.
Any and all advice welcome.

Cheers

Solution
you can't install laptop ram to the build ! but ssd will be okay :)

Just raise the budget 30£ and there's a build with great gaming performance :

And if you can't raise it get that GPU http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-912v308002 instead of GTX 970 (but I highly recommend getting GTX 970)

Solution

That all sounds good, I already had my eye on the GTX 970 😀. Just wondering if i'll need and fans or cooling in a rig like this. If so, what would you recommend.

Cheers

2 fans will do good airflow http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-fan-co9050008ww
put 1 in the top of the case, and the second one on the Side.

if you can get more 2 fans put one on the front and second on the bottom to cover all case with good airflow :)
to be like that :

Front: 2 fans pull air from outside
Bottom: 1 fan pull air from outside
Side: 1 fan pull air from outside
Rear: 1 fan exhaust air from the case
Top: 1 fan exhaust air from the case

That's quite a lot of fans. Are you sure that many fans are needed?
