Right so i want to upgrade a PC, that i have not long bought off a friend for £100, and i was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on the best things to upgrade first, only play CSGO and maybe rust now and then but the framerate is horrible so not so often, budget around £150-200

Specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.6GHZ
4GB Corsair Vengeance @421mhz (6-6-6-15)
asrock n68c-s ucc Motherboard
2gb ATI AMD Radeon r7 200 series MSI
Cooler master case with lots of room and decent air flow.

anymore info and ill be happy to post it, Thanks.

It's almost certainly the GPU holding you back, however it's hard to say for certain because you've actually listed a "class" of graphics cards rather than your specific model. Your AMD Control Centre should tell you your specific card. Alternatively, download and run GPU-Z, it will tell you.

In any case, assuming it is the GPU (and it very likely is), you should be looking at entry level gaming cards like an RX 460 or GTX 950. Or wait two weeks as we're expecting Nvidia to release GTX 1050 and 1050ti cards very soon. Your budget would probably get you to a significantly better tier of cards like the RX 470 or GTX 1060 3GB, but they would be overkill unless you were planning on playing different games in future - and then your CPU would start to become an issue.

What's your Power Supply make and model? That will affect your GPU choices.

Your image link is surrounded by two sets of IMG tags. Please remove one IMG tag from in front of the link and one /IMG link from after it. Then it will be visible to all users. Thanks.

Anyways, the CPU and RAM would be the two things that stand out to me.

Here's a 6-core CPU for that motherboard. £60

2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz. £40

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO: good quiet CPU cooler. £32

Total: just under £150.

Another suggestion: Don't upgrade the CPU, upgrade the graphics card. R9 280X for £65 currently.

Either way, I strongly recommend upgrading the RAM to 8GB. Please don't mix and match, just buy an 8GB kit.

Thanks for all the help guys, REALLY appreciate it! not quite sure on the psu, but i do know it will be just a cheap 500-600watt, but will check tomorrow, as its 3am, and weberdarren97 could i just get another 4gb of the same ram? i wish i never sold my old pc, but then again i only really play CSGO and this does the job, but as time goes on and more games come out i want to play something different

In terms of RAM, it's very likely that you already have 2x2GB DIMMs. Though you'd have to check. Your mobo has 4 slots, so another pair as close as the pair you have should work fine for you. Rust does seem to consistently list 8GB as the minimum RAM. Given it's cheap, it's a good idea to grab that.

In terms of the other suggestions above, for the games you want to play I don't think there's any point in upgrading your CPU, unless you're going to a completely new platform. While overclocking would potentially be an option, my **understanding** is that your board has a simple 3 VRM design. It was originally designed for X2s with OCing headroom, and could handle the 95W X4 & X6s because of that headroom. You're already running a 140W 965 BE edition in a motherboard that only lists compatibility for 95W CPUs: http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68C-S%20UCC/?cat=CPU
I'm far from an expert on these older AMD platforms, so someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me, but from what I understand of your board & CPU, you're already pushing things out of spec and OCing would be a very bad idea.

Having said all that, your CPU as-is is enough for Rust and CSGO. Post back your PSU make & model and your actual GPU (I'm betting a R7 240 with 2GB DDR3 RAM, but we'll see). With that info we can make some proper recommendations. With your budget we can definitely get you working well for CSGO and Rust, and probably also have a system that will play more demanding games on low-med settings.

Thanks for the reply, the PSU is a :

ATRIX Extreme Power 80PLUS Model 800W

and gpu is MSI R7 250 OC 2GB, and thier is only 1 stick of ram not 2, and 4 ram slots. hope all this info helped, if you need more just ask, Thanks

ATRIX is tier 5. Very low quality.

Before we allocate any of your budget to upgrading, we need to replace the power supply with a higher quality model.

I recommend the Corsair RMi/RMx series, the EVGA SuperNOVA G2/GS/P2/T2 series, and the more budget friendly Seasonic M12ii Bronze series of power supplies.

Nice catch on the mobo, I hadn't noticed that.

Judging from the fact that OP is quoting budget in pounds I'm gonna guess we're talking UK prices here. Also, personally, for CSGO I wouldn't prioritise RAM. Rust, yes, RAM required, but I'd advise looking at PSU + GPU first.

So, if you're really on a budget this 430W XFX PSU will get you through for under 40 quid: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/zW4NnQ/xfx-power-supply-p1430sxxb9

In terms of a GPU you could actually get all the way to a RX 470 on budget, but it's overkill for the games you're looking to play. Something like this GTX 950 for 112quid should more than do the trick and is a good fit for the rest of your build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/XrVBD3/msi-video-card-gtx950gaming2g

If you have money left, here's a cheap 2x4GB DDR3 kit (under 30) which should get Rust running better:

Thanks for the replys guys, The msi gtx 950 is not available at the CCL website and at amazon its £30 more, and the i cannot see the link to the ram? Thanks

Here is a UK sales site with another set of memory. http://
