What is the best Gigabyte motherboard?
I need a board that will work, with more than one hdmi, that is dependable, has 4 places to connect fans, and no complicated bios settings to simple use two sticks of ram

Here's why- (if you have the time, I sort of went on a rant)

I am about to buy my third motherboard, no wait, fourth if I count my "old" msi gaming 7 that the PCIe port fall out of

I decided to rebuild my computer after that. So I went with the MSI gaming m5. Turns out it will only boot with one stick of ram, and after a little research that's a problem the m5 boards have and most likely if I bought another one it would do the same thing.

Two boards down and for the third try I bought the MSI gaming pro after seeing good reviews and that if was also recommended on toms hardware.
After installing, it wouldn't boot with any ram sticks. I was tired of dealing with this computer (I already had to replace one bad stick of ram and had windows lock my sdd) so I took it to a pc repair store that builds gaming pcs. They could deal with the problems and either get a board to work or replace it. After a week, they finally finished and explained that board had ram issues too, and they had to change the bios settings, but had to do it though another computer. They also learned the board can only boot with 2 sticks of ram in the 2 and 3 slot, so I could never add more if I wanted too.

When I turned it on, the pc was slow. After trying to play skyrim special edition I was close to turning it off because of all the lag and 5 crashes. When I did restart the pc, I discover it couldn't find the boot device. After connecting the sdd to a other sata port, it was fine. but this morning, same problem, so now I have two bad sata ports, and the motherboard can only use 2 sticks of ram in slots 2 and 3.

I'm done with MSI.

Before this whole catastrophe I had a pc that ran flawless. (Not counting the bad pcu, but that was a easy fix)

It had
I7 4700k 4.00ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
8gb corsair vengeance ram
MSI gaming 7

For over a year I could play any game, do any demanding task, and even use the pc for work without worry. Then I started playing ark and there was lag. With many new games coming out I thought it was time to upgrade my gpu. Which is when the PCIe port just fell out when I replaced the gpu. I barely pulled on it, and if I wanted to the other ports would be easy to remove also.

So I took it to the same repair store and they installed a Gigabyte boardd they installed a Gigabyte H170. I didn't like that it was so small, but would deal with it. When I got home I realized they installed the wrong cpu, I asked for the i7 6700k, but they installed and charged me for the 6700. Then I discovered it only had one hdmi, and no digital audio cable port, meaning I didn't have room for 2 monitors (my gpu has one hdmi) and my a/v reciver which can either use hdmi or a digital audio cable.

I had a family member that needed a pc, so I deciced to build them one with the small Gigabyte board, the ram, and cpu with it and my old 970. She wouldn't be using it for heavy gaming

Now, after a week of headaches, she is playing any game she wants, civ 6, skyrim special edition, without a single issue . No lag, or crashes, perfect. Her computer is how mine used to be. Which shows I can build a pc, I've built two that worked perfectly. But on the one that counts the most, I can't win.
And me, with new everything aside from the sdds have used my computer all of one day, and that day was filled with lag and crashes and bad sata ports.

Now this is what I have (barely works)
I7 6700k
MSI gaming pro carbon
16 gb corsair vengeance ram
MSI GeForce GTX 1070

The other pc (works perfectly)
I7 6700
Gigabyte H170
16gb ram
Nivida GeForce GTX 970

And with the lag, I have a feeling it won't go away with the new board, so I'm not sure what to do then. I don't see how an older gpu can work better than a brand new one, but that seems to be the case. If I ever get a board that works, then I'll post that question.

Or rather, is my gpu terrible and that's the problem? Because if msi makes bad boards they probably make bad gpus

At this point I am willing to buy anything to get back to the days of my pc booting in 20 seconds and almost instantly being able to do what I wanted it to.

Fair enough. I don't use anything but GIGABYTE, never really had any problems.. But like I said the X99-Designare EX is a decent...

I've heard a few people having voltage issues with those MSI boards.. Have you tried adding a notch or two on the VCore?
and
You are using DDR4 yes.. as, correct me if I'm wrong but the gaming pro carbon is DDR4.

anyway, sorry. to answer your question .. I would say the GA-X99-Designare EX should cover your needs :)

It's ddr4 , and I'm not going to even try to fix the msi board. There's no point. The ram slots are bad, no matter what, and people have issues with the sata ports when a gpu is in PCIe slot 2. And also if there are two gpus sata 5 and 6 are disabled. I've seen too many forms on different sites concerning msi boards.

I rather switch to Gigabyte, which seems to be a dependable brand
