well i heard of good reviews for the Blue Orb. i need the best to get my 32mb radeon at 175/175. yes i do have ram heat sinks

ATI RADEON 32MB DDR RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My GTS will do that but it overheats in 3D-Mark 2k with the unmodified stock cooler and nothing on the memory. Thinking about using memory coolers only, because performance is only about 1% worse at 225 than 240, but about 10% worse at 380 than 400!

I noticed similar results with my old Visiontek Geforce256 SDR. Overclocking the core hardly does anything but overclocking the memory by 20% increases framerates by exactly 20%.

Do you users of other graphics cards get the same results overclocking the video RAM, that is, for each percentage increase you get the same percentage gain in framerates?

well i got the blue orb and ram heat sinks. well i got the sucker up to 200/200 !!!! i got 10 more fps in unreal tournament

ABIT BP6 + ATI RADEON 32MB DDR RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My ELSA GeForce 2 MX came with a heat sink on the GPU and nothing on the RAM.

I intend to place an old Pentium Heatsink and fan on the GPU and move the stock heatsink to the memory.

How do I go about separating the heatsink from the GPU?
It appears to be attached with some kind of thermal adhesive or epoxy...

Terak

Here is what I would like to see. (I'm putting on my rose colored glasses).

I would like to see ATI get out of the 3D chip business and concentrate on their multimedia expertise. Without chips of their own they would be forced to turn elsewhere and naturally that would be nVidia. Imagine an NV20 card with TV tuner (both analog a digital capable), high-definition capability, and while they're at how about 3 monitor support for wrap-around, 180 degree, 3D graphics.

I can dream. Can't I?

Damn! The glasses are off!

>> I would like to see ATI get out of the 3D chip business

you may or may not like ATI products, but you should really, really wish for them to stay in the biz... without ATI, and with 3dfx going down the drains, nVidia would be the only company left...
I don't care how good their products are NOW, any company, without competition, will become a overblown giant and in the end provide less the stellar service, development, and products...

trust me, as consumers, we *like* competition... we NEED competition:)

I never said I don't like ATI products. I've owned 4 different models over several years. I just implied they are better at making video cards than they are at making 3D chips.

As for competition, I agree that nVidia should have competition but that does not mean it should or must come from ATI. Right now it looks like nVidia is nearly a monopoly but that may not always be the case. nVidia owns a pretty big "pie" but at some point some of the high-end manufacturers are going to say they want a piece.

As for now, ATI may have a tough time of it. Their latest products may have, arguably, matched some competing products but they did not match the best of the best and certainly did not surpass them. 3DFX is gone. nVidia is preparing the release of the NV20 and the release of mobile products. I do not believe ATI can survive in the chipset arena unlesss the the Radeon gains ground now to keep ATI afloat. In the video card arena, ATI is not competing against nVidia. ATI is competing against Creative, Visiontek, ASUS, and whoever else is left in the video card business. ATI must fight to survive in both OEM and retail markets. If ATI fails to hold on in the mobile pc market then the only customer of ATI 3D chips would be ATI, itself.

It's not that I don't want ATI to survive. It's that I can't see how they can survive the attack at all fronts. So I merely suggested that instead of fighting the onslaught, ATI adapt and concentrate on making good video cards using the best 3D available. If they can find a 3rd source, great! If they have to form a partnership someday with nVidia, so be it. If they can survive long enough and come up with the next cutting-edge technology, that would be great as well. Whatever, but I want to see great ATI videocards and I don't care what drives them.

I recently found ram heatsinks- and they have the blue orb too at http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/ Their prices seem ok, comparable to most other sites and stuff, anyway worth a look, and great customer service. (I screwed up my first order and e-mailed them about it and they fixed it over night and gave me no grief.)

"Are you saying that I can dodge bullets?"

i got it at the same place.

cool site i would shop there again.

Kodiak!
Yr right if ATI got out, NV would start try’n the same sh_t that Intel duz keep’n prices high & performance low. U know NV isn’t the only one that can make killer chips, there are little and big Co,s that are waiting for there door to open. The Goliath Mitsubishi makes cards that could make NV a 3DFX in a minute!
PS. Every ATI I’ve ever had had some problem. My Ultra is just plain perfect. NV20, MAN!!!

I just went to Fry’s and bought a $9 Intel fan/sink and strapped it on tight. I run my Ultra at MAX no prob.
You might check the fan every now and then to make sure it’s not burnt out, I wouldn’t trust the quality there.
But it's cheap and works perfectly!

Yeah tell where is Nvidia in the chipset market no where. No one will buy Nvidia chipset when they can have MICRON. wheres ATi in the chipset market. THE FIRST P4 SDRAM CHIPSET! the P4 prices drop + athlons too!! cheaper athlons and P3 and P4's. huh huh what now?
