My friend wants a gpu since he is using an igpu, and he told me to give him a gpu, in exchange im allowed to mine on that gpu as much as i want and he will pay the electricity bills for it. The guy isnt a hardcore gamer tho, he only web browse and plays some light games like league of legends but he wanted to play elden ring. The budget is around $100-$300. By the way gpu prices are still quite high and since he doesnt need it right away because the only game he plays is league of legends, im going to buy it in the next 4-7 months for prices to go down even further.

So what gpu should i buy?
How many days do i need to mine to get my money back ?
How much profit would i make in the next 5 to 10 years?

Not worth it at all. You'd never even break even.

Here's a better idea: Find a wishing well and drop a handful of change in it every day. You'll end up the same at the end.

In all seriousness take that $300 and put it in a high yield savings account. Lol

$300

Currently, the RX 6600 can be had for $299
The NiceHash calculator shows that returning $0.69 per day, with zero electricity cost.
That is running 24/7, with using the system for nothing else.

You'd break even on the cost of the GPU in about a year and a half.
Assuming 24/7 dedicated operation.

In real world terms, you earn approx 1 PDU(*) per month.
(* = Pizza Delivery Unit)

Unlikely your friend will keep it running 24/7, or not actually use the system.
So reduce that PDU to 1 cup of coffee per month.
