I was just wondering which one of these pcs would be the best for playing games like: the isle, ark:survival evolved, subnautica, etc. Also I’d probably be wanting to upgrade parts in the future.

This one (Like new, $680 plus shipping fee which is $35):

Yeah that's an EVGA 450 BT PSU on the 2nd build, not a Thermaltake. Amazon has it averaging 4.5/5 stars on 3748 customer ratings, but jonnyGURU gives it a paltry 6.5/10.

I don't know, there's issues with both builds. You have to wonder how hard the 1080 has been pushed on the used build if the seller sees fit to bias the Heaven score. I also agree on slim cases having poor space/ventilation, and brick PSUs being lackluster. I also think given those reasons it's a bit overpriced.

That said, with the 2nd option you'd be buying into quite a bit of rebuilding to upgrade an old platform, which involves replacing CPU, MB, and RAM to the new standard, PLUS the...

In terms of specs the first one i7 6700 and GTX 1080 is MUCH more powerful. The second one has a better case, an SSD, it would be easier to upgrade, and better power supply as it isn't some asus brick. However I would certainly opt for the first one and maybe add an SSD down the road, though if you want to upgrade say the GPU in the future you will likely need a new case and power supply at the least.

Where are you finding these listed? Share a link if you can and I will check out the seller.

Yeah, the reason I’m interested in the second one is because it looks a lot easier to upgrade parts then the first one as the case is strange and since I have little to no experience with working with parts and such I’d find it a lot more difficult once it comes to upgrading.

But here are the two sellers:
First one from mercari (GTX 1080): https://merc.li/c3GnQnb
Second one from eBay (GTX 1060): https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/183979101665

I like how the first one conveniently omits some info:
-The I7s clock speeds, or the temps?
-It's 16GBs, but is it 1 or 2 sticks?
-That Unigine Heaven result was hella manipulated. Everything below Custom Preset was omitted, LOL! I have a 1440p monitor also, and that score is much higher than mine, and I have a 1080Ti with a +100 core and +600 memory OC!
This is what I get on Heaven with a custom ultra preset(everything maxed):
FPS: 100.4
Score: 2528
Min fps: 36
Max fps: 211
I can also see from the image that they did a custom preset low run...
It is the more powerful build of the two, though I wonder what temps are like in a cramped looking case like that...

The 2nd one is a little dated with an I7-2600, and that's not a Thermaltake psu in there, according to the images.

Its a locked 6700 so 3.5ghz base 4.0ghz boost, temps could limit that but a locked 6700 runs quite cool and doesn't need a massive cooler I would imagine an asus pre built would run cool enough to allow it to hit it's 4.0ghz boost clock but cant say for sure.

Task manger shows 2 of 2 slots in use in the screenshot so it should have two sticks, hopefully running in dual channel mode.

They did manipulate those heaven results as they are not using a preset.

Hmm so, the seller from the first PC is trying to trick me or...something? Sorry for not understanding better. For the second PC I believe they are using the same pictures for a lot of their PCs that they are selling but I’ll check into it just to make sure. Thanks

I have to say I see red flags here on both. How much time did you put into searching for these options? Seems there has to be better ones out there. Keep in mind too we are heading into Black Friday and the holiday season in general soon, and lots of people will no doubt buy new PCs and sell their old ones. So there will likely be more and possibly better options soon.

This is an important decision and one you will likely live with for 3 years or more, so take your time making it and weigh options carefully. I also advise asking sellers questions, you can often get a feel for their integrity that way. I've used eBay a fair bit, it can be a great site to buy from if you know what to avoid and how to get the most out of it.

Damn. I didn’t do much searching, I could try again but I feel like I’d have to do a lot of searching to find what I want due to my budget. budget is very tight, highest I can spend is probably something around the $700 range. I’m not the best with picking out good PCs either, Do you know of any better options out there for my budget and the games I’m going to be running with it? You don’t have to go thru that trouble if you don’t want to obviously.

Well, like I said the holiday season when people buy new rigs and sell their old may be a better option due to more choices. It's also wise to use sites that have some kind of buyer protection, or at least a seller rating system. There are some tech forums that have a section for members to buy/sell used gaming PCs, but I've never used them. The only PC parts I've bought used on eBay are peripherals.

You're not doing too bad so far, a lot better than some that are new to this stuff. Just needs a bit of fine tuning and patience to find the right deal. For now just keep looking and reporting back what you find, there's a lot of us here that can give helpful advice. $700 is not a bad budget for a used gaming PC really, don't give up hope.
