iv used recuva and easesUS data recover tool recuva found nothing and the easeUS found some stuff (i used pro trial version) but it seemed to mostly find files i already have, i dont mind paying for the recovery tool if can find my file. but am looking for the best one out there pay or free dont matter

the file im looking for was deleated some time ago has prolly been overwriten atleast once or more so isnt just a deleted file is a file thats been ovewrwritten most likly so.....

what would be the best in depth recover tool as i dont know how many times file was overwritten could be once could be many and file is very very important to me tbh not even sure how it got deleated and no copy anywhere but regaurdless would like to try and recover it if i can

Solution
Autopsy is going to be more in depth than something like Recuva (which I do like to use for recent files)

That said, how old exactly is this file you want to recover?
Depending on the age and type of drive (HDD vs SSD) your chances are recovery are slim to none.

How important is this file? You might want to consult with a professional data recovery service, but even then if its something like an HDD and it has been overwritten, its likely gone.

If this is an SSD then there is no way you will ever recover a deleted file. Garbage collection has already seen to that. If an HDD then it's still not going to happen as unless the drive is immediately taken off line when the file is deleted then it's been overwritten and the data no longer exists. This is why you keep backups of important files.

file is old picture from years ago but was kept in a couple places somehow was deleted but my guess is it was deleted in pastcouple years i dont use the drive much so is possible is there id assume its been written over atleast once but to my knowledge can still find it with the right software but the picture is important enopugh to take the disk offline and maybe save for a recovery specialist someday but i have no idea when it was deleted just have a rough estimate of 3-7yrs ago, although the drives never really been full and wasnt realy used much and yeah i backed it up to a disk to the cloud and strangly every copy has been erased no idea, heck even emailed it to myself and have yet to find it. is a copyrighted picture of me and a super model from my younger days so yeah kinda important but guess id be ok if i end up not being able to retrieve it not sure what that cost or even what results id get but anyways. will try autopsy thanks.

The SSD will have an algorithm which means, unless you've filled it completely, it will try to even out the writes across all sectors. You may be lucky, but immediate removal from the system is recommended. Are you windows/linux/mac?

I've had great results with https://www.easeus.com/ software in the past.

Good luck!
