What is the best OS for 3gb

here are my specs:
intel dual core e2140 1.6 ghz
3gb ddr2 ram 667 mhz
asus gt430 1gb ddr3
320g HDD 7200rpm
400W PSU
Windows XP SP3 32bit
Ok so I play some mmorpg games and fifa 12 and some FPS.My question is will 3gb of ram run Windows 7 smoothly if yes which should I install 32bit or 64bit and will I get more fps in my games since I heard that Windows 7 is the best OS for gaming

On older LGA 775 the 'speed' between Windows XP and 7 is negligible. So it's a question of choice and your wallet. As far as 32-bit vs 64-bit it's a little more complex. If you have plans to either upgrade you RAM >4GB or build/purchase a replacement PC anytime soon then get the 64-bit otherwise the 32-bit. Also, Windows 8 'sometime' in 2012 is coming out.
