Hello guys,

I have upgraded my gpu from 9400gt to gigabyte GeForce gt 630 2GB DDR3. But the problem is I DONT SEE ANY IMPROVEMENT AT ALL. I didn't buy a high end gpu cause I have a older rig and the gpu will not match with it. But now I have found that my system doesn't even match up with this old gt 630. Is it a huge bottleneck? because I have a very old and weak processor- Intel Pentium 4. I can upgrade the cpu to core 2 duo (core 2 quad might not be possible). So changing the cpu will take any affect in the performance? or I can't expect more from my gt 630?

I'm getting horrible fps (5-10) while people on youtube (if they're not fake) getting 20-30 fps.

Other specs-
Cpu- Intel Pentium 4 631 @3.00ghz
Memory- 3.00GB
Gpu- Gigabyte gt630 2gb ddr3
Resolution- 1024x768

Core 2 Duos are pretty slow. I have a 2.13 GHZ one laying around, it bottlenecked with a GTX460 768MB.

Well, there are several things I would upgrade. Get at least 4GB of RAM. Second, open task manger, then do something to load up the GPU, play a game etc. If the CPU pegs at 100% usage any you are lagging super bad, you have a bottleneck. To find out what CPU will work with your computer, I need to know the motherboard model, or if it was a prebuilt OEM (HP, DELL, ASUS, ACER) what the model is.

While playing a game cpu load 100% and gpu load keeps bouncing and generally stays at 70-80%. Motherboard is a Abit Lg 95c (which has a LGA 775 socket)

Although not a very good card your cpu is a major problem here, ancient and needs to go. Don't waste your money getting a core 2 duo, but maybe if you can get a really cheap used core 2 quad and give it a slight overclock could help. Other than that, just get a new pc

What games do you play ?, new games would probably crash on a single core and not play at all

I wouldn't sink another penny into this machine. It would be a much, much better investment to save up, however long it takes, for a new machine. You really can't expect to game on a 9-year old, single-core platform, unless the games are 9 years old, too.

I tried to play some modern games ac4, bf4, nfs14 they did run but low fps. Are you telling that the core 2 duo wont change anything? I will be good with 20-30 fps and medium settings.

Nope, might increase slightly but not enough to make it playable. Those games you are trying to play are really demanding both on graphics and cpu power and right now even your gt 630 isn't really good enough. As oxiide said don't invest anything more on this pc.

If you can save up about $600 or more, come back to us and we will help you build a nice machine that can play those games

Of course you will see some improvement. What motherboard do you have?
