what is the best settings for 2 Nvidia GTX 980 Ti gpus

Hi, currently i am having a problem running my 2 GTX980 TI graphic cards in sli, ill enable sli and when i do i get less FPS in games running them in SLI and i get more FPS with SLI disabled, is there any reccomended settings to run my graphic cards in SLI?
heres my current build:

(2x) Graphics Card(s): Dual EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K

(2x)RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB

Motherboard: GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97X

Case: AZZA Genesis 9000 CSAZ-9000B

Power Supply: Corsair Professional Series AX 1200 Watt

Liquid Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX

(2x) HDD: WD Black 6TB

SSD: Solid State Drive, 256GB

(3x) Monitor: BenQ XL2730Z 144Hz 1ms 27 inch

The most likely reason is that something is off in the drivers and you should clean install them. If clean install doesn't help, it might be a bottleneck somewhere, maybe even thermal throttling (highly unlikely with that equipment, but possible)


then why would i get less frames on my games that support SLI as well?

Solution
When I did an upgrade to Windows 10 I had some unusual problems with this as well. I did it to try Rise of Tomb Raider's new DX12 mode. When DX12 was enabled it disabled my sli even when NV control panel showed it as enabled. I had to go back into Rise of and disable the DX12, did a full shutdown/restart and then a clean install of the Nvidia drivers. I know that may have been a little overboard, but everything was back to normal and perhaps a little better to boot. If you do reinstall the drivers you may need to re-enable your sli again.
