what is the best setup for these SSD's/HDD's 2 x 1TB SSD's + 4 x 500GB SSD's + 2 x 4TB HDD's

You have 8 SATA devices. You may not have that many SATA ports on your motherboard. Are you getting an add-in SATA RAID card ?

The motherboard has 10 sata III ports, ports 7-10 are AHCI/IDE only.
Within the computer I wasn't planning a raid configuration other than maybe a raid1 if quiet enough.
No ad in SATA RAID card.

Below is a link to the manufacture Specs. page. The Board is a MSI X99A SLI (not a plus version) and it would probably be better check the board there than waiting for me to type all that.

You know I believe your right! I guess my brain got ahead of my fingers, I'll try to make this right!

Below I have the Post heading and what I would like to do with the computer once it's put together.

What is the best setup for these SSD's/HDD's 2 x 1TB SSD's + 4 x 500GB SSD's + 2 x 4TB HDD's
Would like to do 1080p video editing, audio recording/mixing and 2D motion graphic animation.
I should have also mentioned, I wanted people to tell me, how they would setup the drives that I have mentioned, to do the task I have listed. Please fill free to use all the drives, just a few drives or however you and others would have their Drive Configuration for 1080p video editing, audio recording/mixing and 2D motion graphic animation.

Are you planning to RAID the SSDs or ? RAID0 for > performance? RAID1 for redundancy?

Seems like you could do a single SSD and a single HDD.

What are the specs for the rest of your system? (wondering about NVMe SSD)

I was thinking going all AHCI but won't rule out RAID.

All SSD's are Standard 2.5" SATAIII.

Drives = 3x Samsung 850 EVO's 500GB + 1x Samsung 860GB EVO 500GB + 2x 1TB Samsung 860's + 2x 4TB WD Blacks 7200rpm
CPU = Braodwell-E Intel 6850K
H/S Fan = Reeven - Hans
GPU = MSI 1070 X8
RAM = 32GB 2133MHz Corsair
BDR = Pioneer
DVD = LG
Case = Define R5
MOBO = MSI X99A SLI (this is not a plus model)

Can you say what your PC usage is? This all seems very odd. I've never come across anyone who needs 4TB of high performance SSDs.

You already own all those SSDs? What's that? About $700 worth?

Drives bought at different times, (2015) 850evo's 500GB 109.99 no tax, free shipping. (2018) 860evo's 500GB, $84.78, 860evo's 1TB, 119.99 no tax, free shipping. and that comes out to $654.74
