Just wanted to ask what would a better upgrade from my i7 3770. I want it to pair with my rtx 2080 (possibly a 3070).
I dont have a lot of budget,So like a used processor would also do.

Solution
10400 or 11400 are the current budget gaming CPUs of choice with a B560 motherboard (allows XMP memory profiles, B460 does not). 3600 is acceptable, and with the right B450 or B550 (or X470/X570) motherboard positions you to later upgrade to a 5600X or greater. AMD 5000 series chips are the best of both worlds, great for gaming, and generally cheaper than Intel's higher end products. (Overclocking support on lesser motherboards being the best feature)

An argument could put the i7-11700k at the top of the gaming charts while being somewhat reasonably priced. i9-11900k is a tiny bit faster, but not worth the money. And for a mix of gaming and performance the previous generation i9-10850k is superior with its 10 cores.

Hi

It presume your use case will be gaming, can you say what games you are playing?

also may i have your FULL specs?

PSU/RAM/MOBO/etc

it is very probable you have an LGA 1155 mobo this means that the highest cpu upgrade would be an i7 3770K, which is not worth your while unless you can get it for free

this means you will need to upgrade your entire platform;
MOBO & RAM & CPU

I would still need your other specs

e.g. will your PSU be good enough for your 2080
will your case fit
also what is your budget and where are you located (prices differ across the world)

my suggestion would be to go with intel

for a good budget pc i would suggest:
i5 11400f
mobo: B560 Steel Legend
and get 16gb 3000mhz ram

Alternatively
you could open a new post along the lines of:
help me choose CPU mobo ram upgrade
people tend to flock to these kind of posts :)
and you should get some suggestions sooner or later

the 2600 has about the same performance as your i7 per core

but is has more cores, good for streaming/productivety, for gaming it's a sidegrade :(

In gaming intel is still king
