Heya folks,

I am building a new PC and I am struggling on finding a motherboard. I will be overclocking my 9700k to 4.4-5 Ghz and my RAM is the Patriot Viper Steel RGB 16GB 3200mhz. I want a motherboard that can overclock and be stable, but also to have really good Wi-FI and sound as I love to listen to music. I was thinking about the MSI MEG Godlike. If you have any other recommendations then just let me know =)

Thanks in advance,

My case is the Asus TUF Gaming GT501 so it can support E-ATX.

SSD - Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB
CPU - i7 9700k
COOLER - NZXT Kraken x72
GPU - Zotac RTX 2070 AMP! Extreme (will be getting a 2080ti eventually)
RAM - Patriot VIper Steel RGB 16GB 3200mhz
PSU - Corsair RMx850w
CASE - Asus TUF Gaming GT501
MOBO - ???

Also the more USB ports the better I as will need quite a few of them for my keyboard, stream deck, mouse, headset etc etc.

The best Z390 MB's currently are the Gigabyte AORUS boards and by far.

A 9700K will turbo up to 4.6 GHz on all cores by default, so that'd actually be an underclock.

Godlike would be a waste of money. If you want to spend the extra cash, spend it on a higher end graphics card.

If you aren't going to be overclocking too far you probably don't need a really high end board, but if you want one I probably wouldn't spend more than these:

Oh ok. Thanks man. I will probably get the Aorus Master. I just saw that the Godlike has an 18 power phase I think it was and it looks hella dope with the LED screen

Heya,

I am undergoing a PC build and don't know what motherboard I should get. I was thinking MSI MEG Z390 Godlike, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Xtreme, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master or the asus maximus xi extreme. I will be overclocking a 9700k to 5+ Ghz and want it too be stable. I need really good Wi-Fi as the Wi-Fi doesn't reach my room and I listen to music all the time so good audio would be amazing. I will be using an NVMe m.2 SSD and I will have 16GB of 3200mhz RAM. If anyone could help it would be amazing! And if you have any other suggestions then don't be afraid to say ;)

Thanks in advance,

You can purchase a Wi-Fi extender to provide Wi-Fi into your room or at least extend it closer to your room. Secondly, I would suggest looking at the rear ports of the motherboards to ensure the amount of USBs fit your daily useage (IE: mouse, keyboard, external hdds, headphones, etcetera) I'm not too sure with CPUs and overclocking to 5+ GHz, as each CPU is different in overclocking capabilities of the same model. I wish you luck in your journey of building a new PC. :)

The Godlike, Asus Maximus XI Apex/Gene, EVGA dark, are meant for extreme overclocking (LN2 for example) so yea they are kind of overkill especially for a 9700k, but if you can afford something like the Godlike and its counterparts from asus, evga etc. you can just get them, they are still awesome boards and if the money you save from buying an Aorus master vs a MSI Godlike doesnt go anywhere usefull then theres no point on getting the aorus master imo.

Get the board that fits your needs, a bonus being one that fits your wants. Any decent board will be enough for your average OC, average fans, average rgb, average storage. It's only when average isn't enough you'll need to start looking for what does fit needs and incorporates wants.

Same turbo clock on every core?

https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/core_i7/i7-9700k

it turbos to 4,9 on one core, 4,8 on another... you get the picture.

Although should he target 4,9 that would be overclock

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say. If all cores are loaded, then they would all be at 4.6 GHz. Given that manual overclocks typically set all cores to the same speed, I figured the all core turbo speed would be the most relevant to compare to.
