For my pc build, I'm deciding whether to keep my year old Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor or get a Intel Core i5-4440. Which one is better?

Solution

You were told incorrectly, i dont know of any lga 1150 mobo for a laptop that you can buy nor do i know of a socket g2 desktop mobo.

There is only one laptop that i know that has a desktop processor, and thats a super expensive custom built desktop replacement...

Planning on streaming, editing, and heavy gaming.

If you didn't own one of them I would say pick which you want more gaming or editing, but since you already own one, just stick with it. The i7 has better multi core so it will edit a little better.

Get the i7 it has really got more positive points.....though the performance of both cpu's is same....but the gpu you get in i7 is better than what you get in i5 ..adn the power consumption is also lower in i7....http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-3630QM-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4440S

This is incorrect. The i7-3630qm mobile laptop cpu has Intel HD 4000 graphics. The i5-4440 desktop cpu has the newer and more advanced Intel HD 4600 graphics.

You are actually right but the gpu clock speed and turbo clock speed is still higher in i7's gpu

Would the i7 be better if I didnt use integrated graphics?

I am either transferring my old CPU from my laptop to build or buying an i5 4440 for it.

But you cant do that, you cant fit a mobile i7 into a desktop motherboard nor can you fit a desktop i5 into your laptop, there different sockets and not compatible.

I've been told if I find the right motherboard I could.

There is only one laptop that i know that has a desktop processor, and thats a super expensive custom built desktop replacement laptop by sager, with an i7 4790k at lower clocks.
