hi can some one tell me a good definition of 'internal speed range' of a CPU?

Also can some one tell me a good simplified definition of 'external speed range' in a computer dealing with the CPU?

Finally what is a cache size and where is located in a computer?

Thanks
Dee

The speed of the CPU is determined by the base clock multiplied by the multiplier.

ie. The PentiumDualCore E5200 is clocked at 2.6GHz, or 2600MHz.
The base clock is 200MHz, and the multiplier is 13x...so 200 * 13 = 2600MHz

Cache is basically the memory/RAM for the CPU and exclusively used by the CPU. It is located in the CPU chip.

So how does one find out the base clock speed and the multiplier?

Thanks for the information on internal speed.
