What is the difference between 4g and 6g computers

im purchasing a dell desktop and need this for general use at home and for my older kids homework etc. what is the big difference between 4g and 6g, mainly memory or is the computer alot faster with 6g?

If your just using a system for general everyday stuff like web-browsing, homework etc then you will be hardpushed to find a noticeable difference between 4gb and 6gb memory. The speed of the processor will have the greatest effect on performance.
