Question What is the difference between DDR3 and DDR3L for laptops?

Hello Friends

For some laptops, they request about the ram as: DDR3 and DDR3L

What is the difference between DDR3 and DDR3L? Which one is better and why?

(A) Can a laptop requesting DDR3 accept DRR3L in peace?
(B) Can a laptop requesting DDR3L accept DRR3 in peace?

DDR3 in single 1.35v capable.DDR3L is dual voltage 1.35v and 1.5v capable. Check your manual.

DDR3L is just lower voltage RAM. Typically DDR3 runs at 1.5V. DDR3L modules are 1.35V sometimes 1.5V. Typically you can use DDR3L RAM in a laptop capable of DDR3. However, usually, you can't use DDR3 in a laptop that only supports DDR3L.

Look up the specs for both. You will see DDR3L is dual voltage.

Agree, but my previous post was about DDR3 and not DDR3L, therefore:

DDR3 in single 1.35v capable
vs
Typically DDR3 runs at 1.5V

So which does your laptop require? Did you invest in new ram?
