Question What is the difference between SDRAM and DRAM?

There is no difference for your purposes. They are the same.

SDRAM (synchronous DRAM) is a generic name for various kinds of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) that are synchronized with the clock speed that the microprocessor is optimized for.

For gaming, I'd recommend sticking to G.Skill and Corsair and to some degree you will want memory that is at the faster end of the food chain, depending of course on what the rest of the hardware consists of. You need to pick memory based on the motherboard and CPU you are going with really.

Reading ALL of these would help to get you up to speed. Where DDR3 is mentioned, because the article is slightly older, you can just as easily substitute DDR4 as well. These contain a lot more than troubleshooting information, so they are well worth reading.
