Well I want to get a new hard drive and I was wondering why these drives are priced so odd...

$99 1TB Seagate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840
$119 1.5TB Seagate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148845
$119 2TB Seagate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834

$139 1TB Western Digital http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

They all are SATA III 6Gb/s, 64MB cache, and 7200RPM, but why is the Seagate 1.5TB the same price as the 2TB, and why is the WD so much more?

Thanks

Seagate had this brilliant idea that they would be able to add value to their trademark if they manufactured all of their hard drives underwater. So, they flooded Thailand. What they didn't realize is that not only is it incredibly difficult to manufacture hard drives underwater, but that Seagate had actually build their factories on high land so they didn't get flooded at all.

Western Digital's factories on the other hand got completely submerged.
