what is the difference between TI and standard gpu variants?

I'm noticing on the nvidia side of things that some of the graphics cards have the same names as others but with TI slapped on the end. What does this mean? please help me out and please be patient as I am a pc building novice and I do not know much to begin with.

Its slightly different for each version, but its generally a faster version but not enough faster to signify a whole new model:

So in terms of performance for example:

1060 6gb
1060 3gb
1050 ti
1050
