What is the difference in wifi speed test megabits per second download and actually downloading a file?
I tested my internet and it has gone over 110mbps but when I download a file it only goes as high as 3 mb/s?

I am just trying to understand it, thanks! Oh please be more simple when telling your answer, I am just beginning to learn about computers, coding, and the wifi/internet, thanks!

Solution
1. You may be seeing a difference between megabits and megabytes.
Speedtest reports in megabits. Wherever you are downloading from may report in megabytes.
Approx 8:1 ratio

2. 'Speed' also depends on where you are downloading from, and every other device in the chain.
If they can only serve it to you at 3 megabytes/sec....that is all you will ever see.
If you have a 100megabit/sec fire hose, and they can only feed that with a 3megabyte/sec (~24megabit/sec) garden hose...you will only get a trickle out of your end.
