I am going to pull the chip/lift the chip then reball it. But how would i go about finding the pinout of the chip or the bga socket?

Would i need to have the board scanned or the chip reverse engineered or something.

I would pay to have the chip reverse engineered if i have 2. But i just want to make sure there isn't an easier method.

Im going to count the pins and measure the chip and i know what kind of chip it is, its a ram bga chip from 2000 16mbs

Pretend the information has been lost at least online. And i had to figure it out.

It may be a custom chip but i am not sure.

If it is custom then would the only way be to reverse engineer the chip?

"Pretend the information has been lost at least online".

Pretend ???

I will that as another question: WHY "pretend"???

Are you saying that there is no information on the chip but also posted "i know what kind of chip it is" ??

And want to solder, reverse engineer the chip, etc. to figure it out.....

I would like to hear more about the project you are working on.

Besides which, any chip from 2000 is beyond useless for use with any Windows 7 through 11 OS anyhow. And the reason that information isn't available online, is because they simply don't want you messing with stuff. If you were advanced enough in this area to justifiably be messing with it, you wouldn't have to come here and ask any of these questions.

Well i figured out what it is. I had to have the chip pulled to make sure. I also found the pinout

The Ram chip or RDRAM chip is a FBGA54 800mhz 2.5v 16mb It has 6x9 balls

Now im on the hunt for a larger capacity chip meeting those specs and thus far have found none.

Looking for chips that old is tough thus far. Im on the vintage pc forum as well.
