Question What is the equivalent of a xeon x5675?

X5675 isn't comparable to any modern CPU really. Any modern 6 core would beat it. Its a decade old CPU, so keep your expectations in check.

Your best bet would be overclocking it, and you might be able to get it to be a bit behind a R5 1600 if you have a good enough board and cooler.

How about this -- https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compar...i7-4790K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-1700/1309vs2275vs2970
It is slower than an i7-4790K and a Ryzen 1700. You don't want to see the comparison of current CPUs...

Do you think the x5675 is more powerful than my current I3 6100? 🤔 I was thinking about upgrading it, not sure tho.

The X5675 would be better in multi core performance, but worse in single, so the performance would depend wildly on the application.

Overall the X5675 is still a competent CPU (I have a X5670), but probably not a good choice for you. Although the CPUs are very cheap, decent X58 boards can be expensive unless you find a good deal on one, you would need to buy older DDR3 ram, you may need a new cooler, etc. There are a lot of cheap China boards you can find but will want to steer clear of for many reasons.

Swapping to a newer platform and keeping your DDR4 ram would be a MUCH better choice and probably not any/much more money.

As Nighthawk has said upgrading to the newer I3 platform would be your best best their single core performance is pretty top notch and will perform well in games and even other programs IIRC they will beat out a 6th gen i7 as funny as this sounds. I'm currently building one as a dedicated VR racing rig as its great budget wise

As for the x5675 system I used to run two in a dual socket board with 24gb of ram and a gtx980ti. single core performance was its weak point as for multi core it was great with vulkan titles but that's where i would draw the line. After running that system for years, it was an awesome chat topic, but I am so glad i upgraded to my Ryzen 3700x

Your i3-6100 has 4 threads and a total processing capability passmark rated at 4169.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-6100+@+3.70GHz&id=2617

The 5675 has 12 threads, but each is slower. Still if you have an app that can keep all of those 12 threads busy the rating would be 6380. A nice boost in that environment.

But, look at the single thread performance which is much worse at 1473 compared to 2235 for the 6100.
Single thread performance is most important for games and overall pc quickness.

I think you would be disappointed with such a change.
The strongest cpu upgrade for your motherboard would be a I7-7700K with 8 threads and a rating of 9680/2745.
But, they are not cheap, they sell for over $220 to $250 on ebay.
Not a great deal since a i3-10100 with similar performance sells for $100.
