Hello

I have the ZenBook UX501VW-DS71T laptop, located at "https://www.asus.com/us/commercial-laptops/asus-zenbook-pro-ux501vw/specifications/".

About the SSD, at the Storage section, because I saw the 2.5" 7mm SATA3 value I bought the incorrect SSD.
Well at the bottom of the same section appears the PCIE x 4 512G value too.

Now in Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/ZenBook-UX501VW-DS71T-15-6-Inch-Touchscreen-i7-6700HQ/dp/B018AX3OHO - , where was bought the laptop at the Product Description section appears the following value (among other things): 512GB SSD PCIEx4 + TPM

Therefore observe the difference between PCIE x 4 and PCIEx4 + TPM

I need to know the correct SSD, pls confirm the following points in your reply:

(A) What is the exact SSD model for this laptop to buy a new one in Amazon?
(B) What is really the current maximum capacity? 1TB? or would be either 2TB or 4TB?
(C) What does the TPM term mean?

Thanks for your understanding

C| TPM = Trusted Platform Module

B| Did you disassemble the laptop and see what you have to work with inside the laptop? Given the specs of the laptop, I can tell that you're already out of warranty.

A| You should open up the laptop, then host your image on a site like Imgur, then pass the link to said image on this thread. We can proceed with suggestions henceforth.

From specs:
Amazing 512 GB NVMe Solid State Drive (PCIeGen3 x4), the absolute latest in SSD performance & technology.
Make and model often change during assembly and is least important. You can replace it with any M.2 NVMe of any capacity. There's no capacity limit. To be on safe side get only one sided drive with no cooler. Exact type, make and model can easily be seen in program like Crystal disk info and even in Device manager. Most probably in BIOS too.
PCIe x4 and TPM have nothing in common and nothing to do with each other.

Hello and thanks to all for the reply

C| TPM = Trusted Platform Module

Thanks, I am going to do a research about that

Yes, it was opened only once some weeks ago. It was bought on 2016

Information as follows (sticker of the SSD itself)

P/N: MZVPV512HDGL-00000
S/N: <doesnotmatter>
Code Bars
Model: MZ-VPV51201543
MSIP-REM-SEC-MZ-HPv120REV 0SM951
RATED: DC+3.3V 2.7AF/W BXW7300Q2015.10

The manufacturer is Samsung

Make and model often change during assembly and is least important

I thought it is very important because all is very specific

You can replace it with any M.2 NVMe of any capacity

It is very important for me, do the right buy on Amazon. My uncle should do buy of the SSD. I don't live in USA. So I have zero margin of error

There's no capacity limit. To be on safe side get only one sided drive with no cooler

Here is only available in general SSD between 256GB and 512GB for M2 technology. So here the salesman indicated me that would be possible that the laptop would not support 1TB. When I opened the laptop the SSD is as a memory stick and does not have any cooler.

Exact type, make and model can easily be seen in program like Crystal disk info and even in Device manager. Most probably in BIOS too.

Thanks for the tip

PCIe x4 and TPM have nothing in common and nothing to do with each other.

Interesting, wondered why Amazon did include that "TPM" term

Your guidance (both of you) is really appreciate

Thank You

Amazon has all kings of makes, models, sizes and capacities.
There is no practical capacity limit for modern PCs. Not for a very long time. OS limits are because of it, 2TB for for 32bit OS systems and even that is per Partition. For 54bit OS, disk/partition larger than 2TB it has to be formatted to GPT instead of MBR and that's all.
