What is the file that Windows boots up with that you can configure?

It has either EDIT and or SYS, I believe. I need to edit the file but can't remember the name of it. Yes I have screwed with this file in the past and know to save a copy prior to editing the file. TIA for your help

Also it is not Config.sys

The answer is regedit. My mind is slipping and I sometimes forget things like that.
