What is the ideal resolution supported by most 2016 FP games?

I have two Titan X Pascal in SLI. I want a 4k 16:9 monitor and Gsync support ideally, but there are the ultra wide 21:9 screens. But they loose half there vertical resolution which I don't like. Now these usually curved 21:9 don't particularly appeal to me, but if they work great with modern FP games, then fine I'll get on-board. However, do modern FP games commonly support that resolution well? If they distort the image then they are a waste.

Thoughts..

From my knowledge every "modern" game will be able to support basically every (reasonable) resolution. I do a lot of gaming on triple 1080p monitors and the distortion isn't that bad, so i'm sure it will be perfectly fine on either of these ratios. I'm sure there would be some vidoes somewhere showing what these monitors are like regarding gaming.

Thanks Eldy,
That's very helpful. There doesn't appear to be any distortion. I will search for more videos.
