What is the matter with my system? My GPU?

So, I own an older Alienware laptop with decent specs. It runs Windows 7 64 bit, with a GT 650M, an Intel core i5 3210-m, and has sixteen gigs of RAM. However, my gaming performance is terrible, with most semi-modern titles (Like Alan Wake, Skyrim and America's Army) running with around 20 fps.(on medium to high settings, with a resolution of 1920x1080) I ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark on medium settings, and got an average of a mere 15.2 fps, a high of 30-something, and a low of FIVE!

Is there something wrong with my pc? Or is it just not built for this kind of thing?

And yes, I have the latest drivers, and run regular antivirus sweeps.

Solution
Do you clean your laptop well. When I used to own a gaming laptop it was a beast for 2 months until dust got in and then the system SERIOUSLY Thermal throttled killing my FPS to 15 when it was normally at 60
