What is the max ambient operating temperature of a PSU?

I just had a power supply fail on me where several of the capacitors have exploded simultaneously. Replacement is not an option financially and wont be for several months so I'm looking into the warranty information and one of the things it said was that the warranty would be void if the PSU was made to operate in a "high temperature environment". The warranty and user manuals both fail to specify what constitutes a high temperature environment and I haven't been able to find any specifics via Google.

The power supply in question is a Corsair semi-modular HX650.

That is a lame sentence. High temperature can be higher than rated temperature or something else.

That power supply is rated at 50c by the way. 40c is average, 50c rating is good. Apply for the warranty and see how it goes.

Edit: I am pretty sure by high temperature they mean inappropriate environments, like steel workshops. Or welding environment.

Those environments are why I'm wondering what they consider to be a high temperature. I live in SoCal and my house doesn't have air conditioning. On the day the power supply failed the room the computer is in was in the high 90's.

Sorry. Yes, Fahrenheit. 90 degrees Celsius would kill me. xD

I find it hard to imagine a residential room in southern california getting much hotter than about 50 Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) just from lack of air conditioning.

Edit: if you got high 90s fahrenheit in July, you might get triple-digits fahrenheit in August. I thought air conditioning was considered a necessity instead of a luxury in areas where that happens.

Well, like I said, I wasn't sure because I couldn't find the temperature documented anywhere. And I live in Orange County so it doesn't get quite that hot. Even if it did, from what I've learned here, still well below tolerances.

The house was built back in the 60's and was never modernized. I'd love to run the AC but it's not something affordable even if the house did have it.

I live in a tropical country. 95 degree farenheit is normal at day here, goes as high as 103 farenheit sometimes. And i don't have air conditioning in my room. No problem running power supplies and electrical components.

Awesome, now I'm sure Corsair will honor the warranty. Thanks for the info.
