im a newb at hardware and I want to play games that require more ram but... I don't know how much ram I can handle ?

No, what I'm saying is that you can upgrade, to at least 32Gb of ram. However your cpu and gpu aren't powerful enough to really warrant that much ram, 8Gb is fine for general windows usage and med-light gaming
Really don't know what game ever had had a 12Gb RAM requirement, I've seen plenty that need 12Gb of HDD space, which is totally different.
For your system, 8Gb of ram is fine. With that A6 and a 750ti, you'll not be able to push the limits enough to use more than 8Gb of ram. As it is, just about any newer motherboard will run 32Gb or 64Gb, if it's got only 2x ram slots figure on 32Gb, if it's got 4x slots figure 64Gb. But you'll never need more than 16Gb, which really would never see much usage.

The best upgrade for your pc would be an SSD as the boot drive. This'll speed up most games to a little or a lot depending on the game.
