What is the max ram speed this motherboard supports?

thanks for the advice I will just add on 2 more 4 gb sticks of the same 1600mhz ram i currently have then. can i ask how you came to that decision? trying to learn about all this stuff and become better educated for my next full build, im still new.

I wouldn't count on it supporting 2400 being it doesn't say it does.

"DDR3 2800(OC)/1600/1333/1066"
<<<How to interpret this is....it will run at 1066 or 1333 or 1600 based on the memory you have in there.

For instance...if you have 1333 in there it will run at 1333.

If you have the speeds mixed it will run at the lowest speed.

This is all without doing anything with the BIOS.

It will automatically go to the speed of the slowest stick "of those three speeds".

The 2800 OC means you can use 2800 but you have to OC it in the BIOS.

Just experience. It should run anything between 1066 and 2400. Never tried memory higher than that. I have a Asrock Z77 board with a8 2500K with it running 2133 memory. Usually anything over 1866 will also require overclocking the processor also to get the system stable.

Intel has the memory controller built into the processor and recommends 1.5 volt memory although mine is at 1.6 volts.

Really???

Also auto going to the slowest speed is wrong If he had a stick of 1600 and had the PC running off it then added anouther stick of 1333 it would try to run the 1333 at 1600.

So it can run up to 2800 but i just have to go into the bios and enable it. but your saying id also need to overclock my processor to get stability which i dont want to do given i have heat issues.

what about going from my gtx 560 ti gpu to a 1050 ti. will that run into the same issue with voltage? i just bought a used one and was going to install but didnt think about other conflicts

The video card is fine. Unless your using memory intensive work programs the memory speed over 1600 is not going to really make any difference.

If your already having heat issues the 1050ti will help some since it puts off less heat. If your processor is running hot then upgrade your CPU cooler.

thanks! i think I have heat issues because I dont keep my tower completely closed. one half is open as I dont have the sliding piece to close it anymore lol. Never thought of upgrading the cooler though haha. Maybe that will even allow me to overclock. thats why i originally got the 2600k. just never did it due to heating issues.
