What is the most effective way to cool a CPU?

I recently built my first PC. It worked like a charm for a week, and then fried. And since I have learned the CPU overheated and killed the MOBO and PSU. I have a new CPU on the way and do not want to have my PC overheating again. So what do you reccomend?

Notes:
-The PC is mostly used to game.

-I have 4 fans in my PC.

-Would placing a fan next to it work?

shouldnt need a fan next to it if the heatsink is properly installed

always check temperatures with a new build

1. What CPU type have you got on the way?
2. Did you or do you plan to overclock?
3. What kind of heatsink did you have on the old CPU?

dudget because you can either have a $30 hyper 212 EVO or a $200 water loop

Mounting the stock cooler correctly and confirming that by monitoring your temps for a few days usually works. 😉

well since you are not going to overclock just use the stock heatsink
