and after you bought it, did you think maybe I could have spent that money elsewhere?

Well it doesn't seem expensive to most people (i am 14 yrs old) but i first bought a XFX Geforce 7800GS Extreme Edition for £25, i didn't realize it was AGP (probably the first time i encountered AGP) until i tried to put it into a PCI slot and it fit in the slot but it was too long ( AGP slots are more far back than PCI-E slots on mobos) and it didn't work so i exchanged it for a GT430 (made an excuse that it didn't work), had to pay £5 more and as i had £10 i got another GPU (ATI Raedon X1650SE) for £5 so i could put it in my SFF (the ATI card not the nvidia), now they are both being used.

The computer i tried the AGP card was an T3725.uk, the SFF is an DC7600 (both HP).

The GT430 is in the T3725.uk and the ATI is in the SFF.

My first computer cost about $3200 US dollars. It was a gift for my 16th birthday. Dell 8200, with at the time the best monitor you could get, I forget how big it was but it alone was (I think 24 inches) like $600, big old CRT monitor (before LCDs)

At the time the computer was about as high end as you could get for a desktop from Dell.

The specs where
Pentium 4 1.8GHZ
Nvidia Geforce 2 graphics
256MB RAMBUS RAM
5.1 surround sound card
40 GB hard drive

What would I have done differently? Well, this was back when I was younger and didn't really appreciate the fact that overbuying on computers to "futureproof" them just ended up costing you more money for less performance in the long run. That computer was cream of the crop when it was new, but I suffered with that thing for 9 years.. And yes I mean suffer, by the last 2 years it wasn't even capable of running Runescape at the lowest detail settings.
