I really want to play Star Citizen & Eve on a 35" monitor. My laptop is a Lenovo Y70-70, i7 4710HQ, 16GB Ram & 512 SSD, has Nvidia GTX-860m 2gb. Should I get a $699 Acer Predator with 2180x1080, 144hz, G-Sync, HDMI 1.4 or would I be just as well served by a VIOTEK 35" 1080, 144hz, Freesync and HDMI 1.4, but for only $499. Basically, is the G-Sync going to help on my laptop external monitor display,... I've realized I can't use an external GPU on this laptop?

My old external monitor was a Dell P2815Q that displayed 4K at 30Hz just fine but maxed out at 60Hz, so I guess I don't know if these new monitors will get the full 120Hz that is possible with HDMI 1.4.

Your laptop wont be hitting 144 frames (at high resolutions or high settings) so why spend the money on a 144hz monitor, I would get a 75-100hz monitor.

And to answer your question about an External GPU if you can get access to a mini pcie slot that most wifi cards plug into on laptops you can buy adapters to take advantage of that. You will have to research that future yourself.

G-Sync monitors only support up to 60 Hz over HDMI, and the G-Sync feature itself only works over DisplayPort.

If you want a 144 Hz monitor with a laptop, get one that supports 144 Hz over HDMI like the ViewSonic XG2401. Most other 144 Hz monitors are limited to 60 Hz over HDMI.
