What is the next step and cheapest route to speed up my computer?

Currently PC running Windows 7 Pro, 16 Gigs of Memory, Processor is I-5 -2500K 3.30 Mhz and my Graphics Card is a GeForce GT 440 with 1 Gig of memory. I realize it is an older machine and will it even pay to upgrade it? Have money constraints so be gentle...

All looks OK except the GPU.
That's the only thing you really need to replace. Anything else would require major $$$.

To speed up your computer, buy an SSD.
Memory is good, and cpu is still adequate for most all tasks.

If by speed up you mean better FPS and gameplay, then upgrade GPU. Your CPU/memory is not holding you back so you can get any GPU you want as long as your PSU will support it.

well the cheapest part you can upgrade would be RAM but you have plenty of that. the only option i can see if you are on a tight budget would be an SSD drive. might want to check you mobo specs to see if it will play well with an SSD drive though.

Just re-read answers and the reason I want to speed up is I am editing Graphics in Photoshop. I was under the impression that the SSD would only speed up loading to start the computer. Would it speed up loading large graphic files?

My mother board is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H. Where can I find out if the SSD will work in this Board?

For that use, on a budget, an SSD is the better way to go.
I do a lot of graphics/photo work, and the difference is eye opening. Whatever files live on the SSD are also 'fast'. It is not only for better boot time.

I have that same motherboard. Any current SATA SSD will work.
Depending on your actual budget, a 250GB (~$90) or 500GB (~$160) Samsung 850 EVO will do the trick.

Don't know how much money you want to spend for a new GPU. At the Microcenter store here today the lowest price for a GTX1060 is $299.95 and the RX480 8 GB is $239.95 (open box $199.95). Either card would be a massive improvement.
